About Us

Mision

The primary mission of the Desi Foundation is to help Desi students joining the US colleges and universities through scholarships. In order to fulfill this mission, we will be reaching out to the donors who want to donate money either to create their own scholarships or to support the existing scholarships. Based on donors’ wishes and preferences in creating the scholarships, we will contact the universities of their choice to setup the scholarships. 100percent of their scholarship money will go towards the scholarship they want to create or support.

Desi students are of Desi (South Asian) heritage and/or studied in South Asia. South Asia includes India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives. Students must be fluent in both English and one of the South Asian languages. More specific requirements will depend on the donor’s wishes.

Founder and President

Dr. Mohan Rao, a professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, has been a life-long educator and mentor to many students. He came from a modest background. He could not have completed his studies without the scholarships and fellowships. His own educational background and experience led to the creation of Desi Foundation. This organization was founded to help students, donors and colleges. As a Business professor, he would like to call this a win-win-win strategy.
